A CREATIVE STUDIO FOR WORK THAT REFUSES TO BE RUSHED

what i offer

One practice, many volumes.

A creative entrepreneur finding their voice. An organization sharpening its story. A movement making its demands visible.

Sometimes the work is loud and public. Sometimes it's tender and private. Often, it's both.

My design follows what the material asks for. Restraint or bold, intimate or expansive.

The attention is the same either way.

KIND WORDS FROM PAST CLIENTS

  • "While I can (often) get into my own head about ideas, Danbee asked great questions and listened deeply to expertly translate my ideas into a concrete, beautiful aesthetic that brought everything together. Thanks to her work designing our visual brand identity, I feel more confident in how I present my bookshop to the world. Danbee's willingness to collaborate and engage in building up the image together provided direction while also ensuring that the brand felt authentic to me and what I'm hoping to build. For anyone wondering about investing in a service like this, creating a vision together helps to build something authentic, unique, and compelling in a way that cannot be matched (or generated). Folks who want to translate big visions into compelling visuals, care for both the what and how of a thing is done, and that want a brand that stands out- you should reach out to Danbee!".

—Justin Valas, Founder & Owner of Restoried Bookshop

  • "In the beginning, I was doubtful on whether I could even consult and have my own business. Now, I am able to process how I see myself and how my potential client would view my work. Our work also helped me structure my services more. After seeing my branding and website, I feel a lot more confident on what is possible now. Thank you for that!"

    — Yaritza Guillen, Create with Yari

  • "In early 2024, we partnered with Danbee to design the branding and website for the Illinois Community Power Fund. This process was key to our launch, not just because we needed a visual identity, but this process really helped us to get clearer on who we are organizing in this work, who we are accountable to, and the world we are building. Among many things, Danbee is also a gifted facilitator and helped us to work through really challenging conversations around how we want to represent our work. Moreover, she was able to synthesize a wide range of feedback into concise, compelling visuals. I’ve recommended Danbee to partners for years and what I always tell folks is that Danbee’s process will sharpen and transform not only the “what” of your work, but also how the work is done internally in ways that bring us closer to liberation."

—Amanda Hwu, Executive Director of Illinois Community Power Fund

  • "It was a pleasure to work with Danbee on her lecture, Reimagine to Resist: Connecting our Struggles Through the Art and zine-making workshop. During the planning stages, Danbee was keen on knowing the wants and needs of UChicago students so she can tailor her lecture and workshop accordingly.   As a speaker Danbee was dynamic and warm. She was able to engage our students through various topics including her experience as a student of UChicago’s School of Social Service Administration. We were also lucky to have her lead a zine-workshop where she took the time to really connect with our students. We really appreciate the care that she has for her work and the perspective she was able to offer our students."

—Candace Hairston and Christian Sanchez, Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at the University of Chicago

  • "Danbee blends seamlessly into our creative team. More than any other designer I've worked with, she does the upfront work to familiarize herself with our mission, our needs, and our working styles and she crafts an experience that helps us refine our workflow from concept to delivery. With every project that we collaborate on, Danbee unlocks more creativity and more energy, always coming to the table with fresh eyes, fresh ideas, and great questions. I know that when we leave a meeting, we're going to leave with fresh ideas and renewed energy."

    — Eva Nagao, Creative Director, Interrupting Criminalization

  • "Your energy, intentionality, and dedication to this process has been both rewarding and life-giving for me. You not only helped me with my branding style, but you reinforced the reason why I do this work. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

    — Yolanda Chioma Richards, Imagery by Chioma

  • "Danbee has a gift for putting intangible values and visions into pictures. Through our collaboration with her, we were able to sharpen our message and frame and illustrate the kind of world we want to create. Her flexibility, creativity, and ability to integrate feedback make her a joy to work with.

Heather Appel, Communications Director, Partnership for Working Families

I came to this through a winding path.

History and English literature in undergrad. A master's in social work. Years of teaching and youth work—running programs, building containers.

Design came later, and differently because of what came before.

All of that shaped how I work. I listen before I make. I pay attention to where things come from. I’m fascinated by who made them, why, what they carry. I'm more interested in what's already present than in inventing something new.
